Personal Life

Mona grew up in Florida, enjoying all the Sunshine State offers. Mona enjoys fishing, boating, skiing, horseback riding, bicycling, swimming, dancing, painting, and the beaches. As a sixth-generation native Floridian, Mona is the local real estate expert. She knows the area well and has a vast knowledge of the amenities the Treasure Coast offers.

Mona began taking care of others early in life. Helping others help themselves has been a driving force and it is a significant part of who she is. From early life, teaching her younger brother and sister, after the death of their mother, she encouraged her siblings to achieve greatness by helping others. Her brother became a deputy sheriff, and her sister, a nurse.

It was natural for Mona to be drawn to the medical profession. As a Registered Respiratory Therapist, she assisted others in their physical and emotional well-being. As a manager and mentor for many years, her leadership qualities helped other therapists achieve their goals in their chosen fields. She also received commendations from JCAHO on her managing of departments including Arterial Blood Gas Labs.

Third Generation Realtor

Mona grew up in a successful real estate family. Mona's father and grandmother were both real estate brokers. She learned from them and developed a love for property ownership. She bought her first property at the age of 19.

Having built homes as personal homesteads and owning many others, Mona Leonard has a sense for extremely accurate relevant property market analysis, the essential part of selling a property at the highest price.

Her negotiating acumen sets her apart from other Realtors. Helping others gain the most value in real estate is her "why." She'll show you why many customers feel her real estate services are exemplary.

The Rest of Mona's Story

Beginning early in life, Mona Leonard wanted to make a difference. As a high achiever, Mona became President of the Distributive Education Clubs of America and won several district awards in free enterprise and other topics.

She was the only student in her high school graduating class to have always attended every day of school. Perfect attendance went back to the sixth grade! Mona learned lifelong skills in the National Honor Society and ran for President of the Society.

Mona received the coveted Black Beauty Award as the youngest recipient of the Dale Carnegie Course on Public Speaking at the age of 14. Her father knew the value of providing training in people and communication skills.

Her dreams and aspirations were bent toward the medical profession. She wanted to become a physician. Her grandmother's COPD and Mona's mother's asthma began to play a pivotal role in her choice of work, and she decided to become a Respiratory Therapist. She graduated Top of Class.

Mona Leonard helped patients and therapists through genuine caring in her medical career. She managed other therapists beginning in 1984. Her depth of knowledge and skills in supervising others were in both home care (Foster Medical and Liberty Medical Supply) and hospital settings (Jupiter Medical Center and Cleveland Clinic, formerly Martin Memorial North and South Hospitals).

She's taught and facilitated classes on many subjects, including respiratory care, art, health and wellness, real estate success, modeling, Celebrate Recovery, and local governmental, environmental and political arenas. She's published in Arterial Blood Gas analysis.

Mona has volunteered in many capacities to help others. She was selected to serve on the Indian River State College Respiratory Care Advisory Committee, the American Lung Association Executive Committee, and the Keller Williams Associate Leadership Council.

Mona gives back to her community through volunteerism in politics locally and has been a member of the Republican Executive Committee of Martin County (MartinGOP) for over 25 years.

She's been a Delegate for the Florida GOP Straw Poll and has run for political office. She enjoys participating in the political arena to improve government through transparency, particularly on topics involving property rights and the environment.

Right after the January 12, 2010, earthquake in Haiti, Mona and other medical professionals flew to the Dominican Republic and traveled to Haiti on a medical mission trip. The experience left a lasting impression. Some of the relationships she cultivated there are still a big part of her life.

Haiti with Children

One of those relationships resulted in the creation of a technical school in Gonaives, Haiti, Etec Elschamma Technic. The first graduating class became her God-children. The entire class!

Mona volunteers in her town of Sewall's Point, Martin County, and local charities and she is passionate about helping abused children.

Mona enjoys teaching other agents and volunteers many hours educating her peers. She says educating buyers and sellers fulfills her love of helping others as well. Since she was young, her "why" has always been helping others.

Her downtime favorites are singing, dancing, and painting. She's always loved singing and now performs regularly at local events. She loves dancing the two step, one step, waltz, polka, cha-cha, and even the "Floss."

Mona began oil painting in 2006 and loved the calm, contemplative "zone" she experienced with creating art. In some of her pieces, her love of animals shows through.

She loves spending time with her family and friends, especially her two granddaughters, Grace and Elena. Mona feels blessed they live close by. She gets to be a big part of their lives.
